The GSatTrack permissions feature gives administrators robust control over how to account users access, modify, and interact with various objects within the platform. By managing permissions, administrators can ensure that users have the appropriate access levels to data and functionalities, enhancing security and operational efficiency.

Overview

Permissions are critical for maintaining the integrity and security of the GSatTrack environment. They allow administrators to define which users can view or interact with specific assets, places, geofences, and shared views. Permissions are typically set when creating users and objects or establishing a Shared View. Administrators can easily add or remove permissions by selecting the relevant objects and users, enabling a tailored access management approach. Each object within the platform has its permission settings, which can be adjusted at both the user and object levels, providing flexibility in managing access rights.

How to Use

  1. Access Permissions for Assets:

    1. Navigate to the Assets Module.

    2. Click the cog icon next to the desired Asset to open the Asset Options panel.

    3. Select "Edit Asset" to view the permission tabs:

      1. Users: Manage which portal users can access the Asset.
      2. Driver: Specify which Drivers can log in from the Asset.
  2. Access Permissions for Places:

    1. Go to the Places Module.

    2. Click the cog icon next to the desired Place to open the Place Options panel.

    3. Select "Edit Place" to view the permission tabs:

      1. Users: Manage which portal users can access the Place.
  3. Access Permissions for Geofences:

    1. Open the Geofences Module.

    2. Click the cog icon next to the desired Geofence to open the Geofence Options panel.

    3. Select "Edit Geofence" to view the permission tabs:

      1. Users: Manage which portal users can access the Geofence.
  4. Access Permissions for Shared Views:

    1. Navigate to the Shared Views Module.

    2. Click the cog icon next to the desired Shared View to open the Shared View Options panel.

    3. Select "Sharing" to view the permission boxes:

      1. Assets: Specify which Assets visitors can access in the Shared View.
      2. Places: Specify which Places visitors can access in the Shared View.
      3. Geofences: Specify which Geofences visitors can access in the Shared View.
      4. Groups: Specify which Groups visitors can access in the Shared View.
      5. Drivers: Specify which Drivers visitors can access in the Shared View.
  5. User Setup Permissions:

    1. When adding new users to the portal, navigate to the User Setup tab to control their permission level for interaction with the portal.

Additional Information

Permissions give administrators control over how account users can access, modify, and interact with objects within their accounts. Most permissions are set when creating users and objects or when creating a Shared View. Permissions can be added or removed primarily through limitation by inclusion, as administrators select the objects they want users to access by clicking the boxes next to their names.

Each object has permission settings that can be modified at the object level in the details panel or during creation. For instance, when creating a new Place, users can toggle the permissions for which users can interact with that Place directly from the Add a Place interface. Most portal objects have permissions that administrators can assign, which can be revoked, edited, or otherwise changed at any time, both at the user and object levels.
