Geofences

Feature Summary

The Geofences feature in GSatTrack allows users to perform bulk actions on assets, similar to asset groups. Geofences provide a way to define a virtual boundary around specific areas, enabling targeted interactions with assets within these boundaries. This feature is handy for sending messages, generating reports, and tracking asset movements within specified areas.

Overview

Geofences are virtual perimeters on the map that allow users to perform various actions on assets located within these defined areas. By leveraging geofences, users can efficiently manage and interact with multiple assets, streamline communication, and enhance monitoring and reporting capabilities.

Additional Information

Geofence Actions

Geofences offer several bulk action capabilities that facilitate efficient asset management:

  • Send Message: Users can send custom messages to all devices within a geofence that supports two-way messaging. To do this, click the "Send Message" button, deselect any assets you don't want to include, type your message, and click "Send Message."
  • History Replay: This function allows users to view only the assets within a geofence on the map, hiding all others. Users can adjust the period to view the movement history of these assets.
  • Group Assets: Clicking the "Group Assets" button opens a page to create an asset group from the assets currently within a geofence. This feature helps track asset positions during significant events.
  • Add Alert: This action opens an alert form with the selected geofence pre-filled, allowing users to set up alerts specific to that geofenced area.
  • Asset Location Report: This function generates a report on the location of assets within a geofence. The report can be customized and exported in Print, Excel, PDF, or KML formats.

Geofences on the Map

All active geofences are visible in any map view across modules and are editable only in the Geofences Module. Users can access its properties by clicking on a geofence and performing quick actions such as toggling visibility, adding alerts, sending messages, grouping assets, replaying history, and running location reports.

Key Features

  • Geofence Creation and Customization: Users can create geofences by drawing polygons on a map or specifying circular areas. This feature offers flexibility in customizing geofences to suit specific operational needs.

  • Real-time Monitoring: GSatTrack continuously monitors asset location and sends alerts or triggers actions when assets enter, exit, or remain within specified geofences. Real-time monitoring enhances situational awareness.

  • Alerts and Notifications: Geofences enable automated alerts and notifications through email, SMS, or platform notifications. These alerts can notify users of any deviation from predefined geofence rules.

  • Geofence Overlays: Users can overlay geofences on maps to visualize asset movement and location in relation to the defined areas. This aids in tracking and decision-making.

  • Historical Tracking: The Geofences feature tracks asset movement in geofenced areas, allowing users to analyze past events and trends.

  • Reporting and Analytics: GSatTrack offers reporting and analytics tools to provide insights into asset behavior and performance within geofenced areas.

Use Cases

The Geofences feature applies to a wide range of industries and use cases:

  • Asset Security: Geofences can be used to create secure perimeters around assets, triggering immediate alerts if assets move outside these boundaries, which can help prevent theft or unauthorized use.

  • Fleet Management: Fleet managers can define geofences to optimize routes, monitor driver compliance, and improve operational efficiency.

  • Safety and Compliance: Geofences can be applied to ensure safety and compliance within specific areas, such as construction sites, warehouses, or hazardous zones.

  • Field Service Management: Service organizations can use geofences to track and manage field personnel and optimize service calls and deliveries.
