Shared Views
Feature Summary
Shared Views let users create customized map views and share them with team members or with people who don't have direct portal access. Each view can be tailored with its own map configuration and shared so others can view and interact with the same map in real time.
How to Use
How-To: Customize a Shared View
Select the “Manage” icon in the “Navigation Menu”
Choose the “Manage Overview” gear icon
Scroll down to “Shared Views” and:
- Select “List” to customize an existing shared view and then select the “Edit” icon
or
- “Create New” for a new shared view.
Customize the desired settings then click “Save Changes” or “Create Shared View”
How-To: Share a Shared View
The main purpose of Shared Views is to make portal data accessible to people who don't have direct access to it.
Users can share their Shared Views by following the steps below:
Select the “Shared Views” icon in the “Navigation Menu”
Choose the “Shared View Options” icon next to the desired shared view.
Expand the “Sharing” dropdown menu first, select the data you want to share, and click on “Save Changes”.
Go back to the “Shared View Options” page and choose which way to share the view:
Email: Send the Shared View directly to others via email.
URL/Link: Generate a unique link to the Shared View that can be shared.
Social Media: Post the Shared View on social media platforms.
How-To: Collaborate in Real-Time
Two or more users may collaborate in real time by accessing the shared view simultaneously. Use the following steps to do this:
Select the “Shared Views” icon in the “Navigation Menu”
Choose the “Shared View Options” icon next to the desired shared view.
Verify the correct information is enabled in the following dropdowns:
Sharing
- These sharing options make it easy for users to distribute their customized Shared Views with others who may need access to the information, without having to provide them full access to the portal..
Access Controls
Shared Views come with several options and settings that help users control the ease of access to the shared material.
Status: Enabled/Disabled
- This toggle determines whether the shared link will work or not.
- Disabling the link is a quick way to stop sharing without deleting it.
Availability: Public/Private
This toggle determines if the shared view requires a password to access.
Setting it to private allows you to control who can see the shared view.
Password
- If the shared view is set to private, visitors will need to enter this password to access it.
Expiration Date
This allows you to control how long the shared link will work.
It can help manage access if there are contract or subscription arrangements.
It prevents unlimited access to the shared data.
Two-way Messaging
- If enabled, people visiting the shared view can use the messaging features (if their devices support it).
Map Mode
Map Modes gives users the ability to set the default map mode for visitors, and can be either Live Mode or History Mode. If set to History Mode, the default viewing experience for Visitors will be to see the entire Date Range of Data selected by the user.
Map Settings
Map Settings controls give users the ability to customize the viewing experience for their visitors, and provide control of the following options.
- Default Map Type: select from a drop-down menu of map tiles
- Fade Historic Positions by Time: displays more recent positions with less opacity, and older positions appear more transparent
- Group Positions on a Map: determines whether positions close together are grouped or displayed individually
- Remove Roads from Satellite Map: only relevant if a Satellite map tile has been selected, allows users to remove the roads from the visualization

Timezone: set the timezone of the shared view from a drop-down menu
Lat/Lng Format: set the coordinate system of the Shared View from a drop-down menu

How-To: View Visiter Details
When you access the Visiter Details page for a specific Shared View in GSatTrack, you can view detailed information about the visitors to that shared view.
- Select the “Shared Views” icon in the “Navigation Menu”
- Choose the “Shared View Options” icon next to the desired shared view.
- Click on the “Visitor Details” button.
- Interact with the following information:
Visitor Name
- The name or identifier of the visitor who has accessed the shared view.
Total Visits
- The total number of times the visitor has accessed the shared view.
Last Visit
- The date and time of the visitor's last access to the shared view.
Visitor Location
- The geographic location of the visitor is based on their IP address or other location data.
Device Information
- Details about the device (e.g., mobile, desktop) and browser used by the visitor to access the shared view.
This visitor-level information provides insights into who is accessing the shared view, how often they are viewing it, and from what locations and devices. This can help the shared view owner understand the engagement and usage of the shared content.
- Select the “Chart Context Menu” to view the chart in full screen, print the chart, and/or download the chart.
