Map Layers

Map Layers

Feature Summary

Map Layers lets GSatTrack users overlay geographic information onto their maps, including street maps, satellite imagery, topographic maps, and weather overlays. This adds context for visualizing asset locations, routes, and geofences.

Additional Information

How-To: Enable Map Layers

  1. Go to the Map Mode Indicator in the top right-hand corner of the portal and click on “Layers”
  2. Click on the desired Map Layer
  3. Interact with the enabled Map Layer

How-To: Disable Map Layers

  2. Click on the desired Map Layer
  3. Map Layer will no longer be visible

Key Features

  • Multiple Layer Options — Street maps, satellite imagery, topographic maps, and weather overlays.
  • Adjustable Transparency — Blend multiple layers by tuning each layer's transparency.
  • Real-time Data Integration — Overlay dynamic feeds such as asset locations, weather, or traffic.
  • Geofence and Route Display — Show geofences and planned or historical routes as map layers.
  • Layer Grouping — Group and organize multiple layers for structured management.
  • Custom Layers — Create custom layers from proprietary or specialized geographic data sources.

Use Cases

  • Asset Tracking — Overlay real-time asset locations on street or satellite layers to monitor movement.
  • Weather Monitoring — Display radar or temperature overlays over areas where assets are deployed.
  • Geofence Visualization — Overlay geofences to monitor asset movement within designated boundaries.
