GL-200

Safe Flight Manager

Safe Flight Manager Functionality

Safe Flight Manager is designed to detect and automatically disable GSM based on GPS altitude and speed parameters, with holdoff times before re-enabling GSM functionality. The details of each of these parameters are as follows:

  • Off Time When “SFM” is enabled and the device fails to get GPS position for “Off Time” minutes, GL200 will enter into safe flight mode, i.e. RF will be turned off. Before doing that, GL200 has to send the message +RESP:GTROF to the server and output “RESPOND SFM:GSMOF” to UART. So it will need one minute more to make sure the report is sent. If it is 0, RF will be turned off immediately when the device fails to get the GPS position.
  • On Time If the GPS signal is back and available for “On Time” minutes GL200 will exit from safe flight mode, i.e. turning on RF. This works in “AND” relation to “SF Alt” and “SF Speed” parameters. After RF is turned on, it will report the message +RESP:GTRON to the server and output “RESPOND SFM:GSMON” to UART. If it is 0, GL200 will turn on RF immediately after the first successful GPS fix (concerning SF Alt and SF Speed settings).
  • SF Alt If the GPS signal is available for “On Time” minutes and the unit’s altitude is lower than “SF AIt”, GL200 will turn on RF. If set to 0, this condition is ignored.
  • SF Speed If the GPS signal is available for “On Time” minutes and the unit’s speed is lower than “SF Speed”, GL200 will turn on RF. If set to 0, this condition will be ignored.

Network Select (White List)

  • The Network Select feature defines a white operator list to which GL200 can connect.
  • You can find the cell IDs here opencellid.org.
  • Oper1/2/3: 5 bytes total by combining the MCC (3 bytes) and MNC (2 bytes). For example, if MCC is 460 and MNC is 01, the value will be 46001.
  • If you define the operator list, the unit will ONLY connect to the operators from this list. If this feature is disabled, the unit also can search and connect to any operator.

Report Size

  • Basic report: 100 bytes + 40 bytes overhead = 140 bytes
  • Extended report: 180 bytes + 40 bytes overhead = 220 bytes

Configure via SMS

To configure the GL-200 via SMS, you can send the unit 3 SMS messages to properly configure the device. Each command must be sent in a separate SMS message with nothing added to the beginning or the end of the message. It is suggested that you test this first by sending the text message to another cell phone to verify the proper reception before sending the command to the unit.
